| The stunning Kate Weare Company returns to Bates with Weare's arresting new "Garden," an exploration of the depths of human relationships. Performances take place at 8 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28, in Bates College's newly air-conditioned Schaeffer Theatre.
In choreographic language ranging from sensuous and delicate to severe and propulsive, "Garden" draws on primitive issues of origination, collective identity and safety amid the uncontrollable natural world. Two men and two women frolic, flirt and fight in the wake of the unknown, eliciting a world of sensuality and innocence disturbed by dark undercurrents.
"The verdant place that gives Kate Weare's disastrously beautiful 'Garden' its name is no Eden," writes critic Deborah Jowitt. "The dancing creates terrifyingly expressive, yet elusive images."
Weare's dances come alive inside a quiet storm of intimacy. With rawness and precision, she exposes a humanism that is contemporary, disquieting and profoundly stirring. |

| Due to the intimate size of our venues, we strongly recommend that you purchase tickets in advance. We regularly sell out! Ticketed seating is guaranteed up to ten minutes prior to curtain. Late seating is at the discretion of House Manager.
