| The centerpiece of the Bates Dance Festival's 30th-anniversary season is the return of
festival alum Larry Keigwin and his champion dancers, Keigwin + Company, returning with a
dynamic evening of Maine premieres. Performances take place at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday,
Aug. 2 and 3 in Schaeffer Theatre.
In addition, a special gala performance takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, followed
by an anniversary party with the artists.
Keigwin + Company will present five Maine premieres including a new male quartet, "Contact Sport"; "Natural Selection"; "Triptych"; and "Trio," with music by Adam Crystal.
His work is witty, kinetic and musically responsive, mixing the stretched lines of ballet with the weighted, blunt quality of contemporary dance and often with everyday gestures and pop-culture references. It's a blend that's accessible yet ambitious, and that -- together with his openness to theatrical possibilities and lack of snobbishness about his art -- has won him many fans in the dance world.
A special Gala performance takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, followed by an anniversary party with the artists. |

| Due to the intimate size of our venues, we strongly recommend that you purchase tickets in advance. We regularly sell out! Ticketed seating is guaranteed up to ten minutes prior to curtain. Late seating is at the discretion of House Manager.
Standing is not permitted in the theater.
